Gadson Takes On Snyder For World Team

Gadson Cutouts 0.1AMES, Iowa — Cyclone Regional Training Center athlete Kyven Gadson is set to scrap with Kyle Snyder on Saturday night with a spot on the United States World Team on the line. The trials, dubbed Final X, will take place in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Bob Devaney Sports Center at 6 p.m.

“I’m really excited for this opportunity, this opportunity to compete,” Gadson said. “Some people may call it something else, but I’m just excited for my next opportunity to ultimately achieve the goals I’ve been working toward.”

Gadson’s best-of-three match with the reigning Olympic and World Champ is one of just seven on the evening. Gadson and Snyder will be the third bout of the night.

“Kyven’s done a lot of good things to tweak his preparation leading up to this,” C-RTC assistant coach Brent Metcalf said. “I think we all know, and he knows he’s got a tough opponent, but we’re confident that he has what it takes to get it done.”

The first round bouts are set to begin at 6 p.m. The second matches will begin at approximately 7:15 p.m. and if necessary, the third and final matches will begin at approximately 8:15 p.m.

“I’m excited to go and watch him compete,” C-RTC assistant coach Derek St. John said. “This is what it’s all about and I think Kyven is ready to take on this challenge.”
